Shimkus Recognizes State Champion Arcola Purple Riders
WASHINGTON – Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) entered a statement into the permanent congressional record recognizing Arcola Jr. Sr. High School as the 2015 IHSA Class 1A High School State Champions.
On November 27, 2015, Arcola defeated Stark County by 35-17 to win the Class 1A State Championship – their first championship title in 27 years.
“I would like to recognize the effort of this amazing team and congratulate them on their historic season as they celebrate their well-deserved title,” said Shimkus.
The statement specifically congratulates the Strader brothers, Clayton and Connor, as well as their cousin Chase, for contributing to six touchdowns and several tackles. It also acknowledges the work of Tommy Eddleman, Jim Fishel, Aldo Garcia, Chad Hopkins, Jarod Kiger, and John Lidy who make up the coaching staff which supported Athletic Director and Head Coach, Zach Zehr, to provide great leadership for the Purple Riders.
“I look forward to the continued success of the Arcola Jr. Sr. High School,” Shimkus said. “And I extend my best wishes for another outstanding season next year.”
