Shimkus Honors Hero Truck Driver from Springerton
WASHINGTON – Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) entered a statement into the permanent Congressional Record recognizing truck driver Caleb Lydick of Springerton, who earlier this month came to the aid of a motorist being shot at on Interstate 70 in Missouri.
"After the victim’s vehicle came to a stop, two tractor-trailer drivers parked their trucks around the van to shield it from additional gun fire. I later learned that Caleb Lydick, of Springerton, Illinois, was one of the courageous drivers who placed himself, and his truck, in harm’s way to protect the disabled van," Shimkus noted.
