Homer Firefighters Awarded Nearly $50,000 in Federal Funding
WASHINGTON – Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) today announced the Homer Fire Protection District was awarded a $47,281 federal grant.
The funds may be used for professional training, personal protective equipment, modifications to facilities, and other supplies that support firefighting operations and safety.
“FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program helps rural communities purchase, upgrade, and maintain the tools and equipment they need to respond to fires and emergencies of all types," Shimkus said. "My office can assist communities with these grants as well as any other federal grant program application.”
