Federal Grant Awarded to Hoosier Township for Replacement Tractor
WASHINGTON – Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) announced today that Hoosier Township in Clay County was awarded a USDA Rural Development grant of $25,000.
The funds will be used toward the purchase of a replacement tractor for the township. The new tractor is an essential piece of equipment for the community, providing services including snow plowing, hauling gravel, road work and other township maintenance.
“I congratulate Hoosier Township on their successful grant application,” Shimkus said. “Grants from the USDA make necessary development and public safety projects possible for rural communities. My office can assist with rural development grants as well as any other federal grant program application.”
